MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY · 2026
W2N’s pilot development at Michigan State University explores how black soldier fly larvae can process suitable food scraps in a mobile learning lab.
WHAT THE PILOT IS STUDYING
The mobile trailer is an interim research platform, not a finished commercial processing product. Its purpose is to inform operating methods and the design requirements for a repeatable campus system.

The planned operating record covers the food-waste stream, larval growth, material outputs, environmental conditions, odor observations, labor, and student participation. The goal is to understand what is repeatable, safe, and useful before making performance claims.
Record the material received and how it is prepared.
Observe feeding, growth, survival, and operating conditions.
Weigh and evaluate larvae and residual material. Potential uses require validation.
Installation evidence: a founder-supplied trailer walkthrough uploaded 8 October 2026 shows the grow tent, trays, shelving, and ducting. These images document equipment, not performance. Verified diversion totals, yields, and laboratory results are not published here. See the actual walkthrough stills.

Operating records and laboratory evaluation will guide the next decisions. W2N distinguishes observed results from concepts. A complete operating dataset and confirmed next operating schedule are not published here.
